Alabama home inspector license

Alabama Home Inspector Licensing Requirements:
PHII’s home inspector training will provide you the knowledge needed to become a successful home inspector in Alabama. The course will prepare you for membership into a national home inspection organizations and to complete the NHIE.

To become licensed, home inspectors must:
1.) Professional Qualifications:
--one of the following--
(a) Membership in a professional bodies: such as ASHI, NAHI or others; OR
(b) Current approval or certification by the United States Veterans Administration, HUD the Southern Building Code Congress International, or the Council of American Building Officials; OR
(c) A high school diploma or its equivalent, 1 year work experience and completion of at least 100 home inspections for compensation; OR
(d) Current licensure in Alabama as a general contractor, architect, structural engineer, or residential home builder.

2.) Testing Compliance:
Both the NHIE Exam and the ASHI Standards and Ethics Exam are required

3.) Insurance Coverage - $250,000.00 of errors and omissions insurance coverage; as well as general liability insurance $20,000, $50,000, $100,000.

Alabama Radon Testing (Radon Measurement) Requirements:

There are no requirements for radon inspection in the state of Alabama. However, AL does maintain a list of certified radon professionals.

The Radon Measurement Course has been approved by both NRSB and NRPP for initial certification. If you are interested in expanding your business to do radon testing, you can begin by taking the PHII Radon Measurement course. When you have completed the course, you will receive information on how to register for the NRPP or NRSB exam. Both organizations require that you complete an approved course, pass their certification exam, and maintain your certification with continuing education. Note:

NRSB has also approved PHII's Radon Measurement Course for 16 Hours of Continuing Education.
