California Home Inspector Licensing Requirements:
There is no California home inspector license requirements for home inspectors. However, California does have a Trade practice act (Chapter 338) enacted in 1996 that establishes a required standard of care that does apply to home inspectors in California. There is not currently a state test in California and no requirements for continuing education.

The California Real Estate Inspection Association is the symbol of real estate inspection professionalism in the State of California. CREIA is not a state home inspector license board in California but they are the major professional association in California.

California Radon Testing (Radon Measurement) Requirements:

There are no requirements for radon testing / radon measurement in California, but, CA does maintain a list of certified radon measurement professionals. The California Radon Program endorses Radon Measurement Professionals who are certified through National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) or National Environmental Health Association's National Radon Proficiency Program (NEHA).

The PHII Radon Measurement Course has been approved by both NRSB and NEHA for initial certification. If you are interested in expanding your business to do radon testing, you can begin by taking the PHII Radon Measurement course. When you have completed the course, you will receive information on how to register for the NEHA or NRSB exam. Both organizations require that you complete an approved course, pass their certification exam, and maintain your certification with continuing education.

Note: NEHA and NRBS have also approved PHII?s Radon Measurement Course for 16 Hours of Continuing Education.
